Meet Sabrina
Yoga and Pilates Instructor
Hi!
I'm Sabrina, yoga enthusiast, mum of three and student of life!
Ever since I can remember I've enjoyed the feeling of vitality that comes from group physical activity in pretty much any form, whether it be games, classes, workshops, camps, retreats, festivals - you name it - I'd most likely love it! So in retrospect, it's no real surprise that I gravitated towards teaching because it combines 2 of my absolute favourite things - movement and, meaningful connection with people!!
Like many people, I gravitated towards yoga on and off for years, enjoying many of the benefits of attending weekly classes until inevitably allowing the business of life to over-rule my self-care routines, believing that the demands of family, work and social commitments must take precedent. However, at a very low energetic ebb, while struggling to retain my sense of self outside of my role as a provider......at the time with a new born, a toddler and a teen - I once again found sanctuary in a beautiful local yoga and fitness studio. Here, I met two wonderful teachers and a community of kind, collaborative and enthusiastic people who were passionate about bettering themselves and empowering others to do the same.
It was at this point that I realised then that I wanted/needed/craved a tangible reason to have more yoga in my life, which is what led me to take the plunge and complete my yoga teacher training. It was so much fun that I then went on to complete specialist teacher training in Yin, Restorative, Pre and Post Natal and Kids Yoga..........and complemented this with mat and reformer Pilates teacher training. (another love of mine hehe).
Since then I've had the privilege of working in various studios and co-facilitated several workshops and retreats across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast with a bunch of amazing and inspiring health professionals and natural healers. Sharing my love of yoga with the wider community has been such an adventure and I am profoundly grateful and excited to be able to share this wonderfully nurturing movement based practice with you all.

Why Yoga?
It can help with

Digestion
Yoga can help support healthy digestive function by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for the stimulation of our rest and digest response. When this part of the nervous system is activated, blood flow is re-directed, stimulating the production of digestive juices and enzymes and encouraging bowel movements.
Fatigue
Regular yoga practice increases energy levels and 'prana', our lifeforce in the body, alleviating stress. This makes it a safe and sustainable way of reducing fatigue. Some yoga poses are particularly good for reducing fatigue as they adjust the hormone cortisol which helps to regulate energy levels. As your stress levels go down, energy levels improve. You can also increase energy levels with balancing poses and backbends.
Detoxification
Yoga supports detoxification, digestive and respiratory systems by strengthening the physical body and soothing the mind through specific asana and breathing techniques.

Women's Health
Yoga increases the beta endorphin hormone release from the brain, providing a sense of well-being, improving immunity and preventing infections. This can also help to ameliorate the uncomfortable symptoms of menopause.
Weight Loss
Yoga supports healthy weight loss by focussing on connection between movement and breath. It also increases tone, flexibility and strength
Stress
Yoga can naturally alleviate stress by supporting and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, and increasing self-compassion and mindfulness.
